I just had a snowy owl fly by my North Perry house. I had been getting a few gulls flying over heading west and most have been herring gulls so I have been watching for the uncommon gulls. I saw a larger bird fly over and it was a snowy owl. It was just above treetop flying west. It looked like an immature bird. Not a bad yard bird and a first for the waterbird survey. I've also had a couple glaucous gulls and a lesser black-backed gull. Gull movement has slowed down considerably since it started snowing again. Later on I'll check some of the open areas to see if the owl settled in somewhere.
