When it wasn't snowing hard, there was a nice movement of birds. Unfortunately around 830 it started snowing and things slowed down a bit. Occasionally the snow would let up and you could see birds further out. There was a good movement of big gulls overhead. When the snow started they thinned out quite a bit. I was seeing some interesting gulls so I paid attention to the overhead movement. It paid off when a snowy owl flew over at treetop height heading west. It is a first for my waterbird surveys and the second time from the yard. Also of interest was a killdeer that came in off the lake and headed south. I also found Iceland, glaucous, and lesser black-backed gulls.
