One of the interesting things about these lake watches is how the lake varies from day to day. The difference between yesterday's flight and today's was immense. Yesterday there were very few ducks. There were tons of gulls with ring-billed gulls dominating with nearly 2,700 counted. Today there were lots of ducks and a lot fewer gulls. Today herring gulls dominated with 464 birds. Birds of note were a flyby harlequin duck. The bird was a female plumaged bird. It was heading east. Also of note were white-winged and surf scoters, and glaucous gull.
