Spent the day birding Big Island Wildlife Refuge (Marion County), Killdeer
Plains Wildlife Refuge (Wyandot County), and Lawrence Woods State Nature
Preserve (Hardin County). There was very little open water and not too many
birds, but some good ones.

There was just a little open water on Pond 27 at Killdeer Plains that
attracted a large flock of Canada Geese. Mixed in were 200 Mallard, 6
American Black Ducks, and 6 Greater White-fronted Geese.

We went to Lawrence Woods to be there at sunset and were rewarded by
watching two Short-eared Owls flying over the fields. They came out shortly
after sunset. You can park in the parking lot near the boardwalk and watch
the fields on either side of the road coming into the preserve.

We found a Bald Eagle, Red-tailed Hawks, a Northern Harrier, a Rough-legged
Hawk, and an American Kestrel at Killdeer Plains.
