I've heard from two different patient observers that large numbers of snow buntings (1000+) and Lapland longspurs (~400, including ~200 perched in a single tree, apparently sunning), plus a couple hundred horned larks, were beheld near the intersection of Darby Creek & Kuhlwein roads west of Columbus in the restored prairie settings of the Metro Park. Raptors and owls may be seen; I haven't heard about any short-ears, and would be interested to know if they've bowed out this winter or not. If anyone sees snow buntings in trees or on wires, it would be interesting to hear, too.
