I went out to Soltis Road today and found pretty much the same mix of birds that was reported by Jim Heflich & Patty Kellner yesterday. I'd never been there before, and was happy to find another corner of Geauga Co. where horned larks and snow buntings can readily be found. A careful look extracted one lapland longspur. The birds I saw today were on a manured section of the field, on the north side of Soltis. I'd been there 45 minutes before I found the flock, and then, thanks to the pigeons who flew in to feed, and sent the birds reeling up and around before resettling. Good views possible with just binoculars, if you are patient and they settle in near the road. Otherwise, a scope would be a plus.
