The 2 Harlequin ducks were not relocated today (at least not by me) on the
Ohio River near the Washington/Athens County line and a sincere and patient
effort was made to do so. However, there are thousands of ducks on the
river right now with highlights being 4 White-winged scoters, a probable
Surf Scoter (about a mile away - had a hard time with this one) also both
Scaup, Redhead, Canvasback, Goldeneye, American Black duck, Bufflehead,
Ring-necked ducks (many), Common and Hooded mergansers and Gadwall. There
were two Long-tailed ducks (1 male 1 female) located off of Old River Road
near Little Hocking in Washington County (very close to the shore). In
addition I had 5 Tree swallows flying north up the river and 4 Bonaparte's
gulls heading south down the river with a group of Ring billed gulls.

Good birding,

Glen Crippen
