March 24th: "A Bird's Journey: The Miracle of Migration", Tom Sheley, Owner of Wild Birds Unlimited in Columbus. Tom will present a photographic chronicle of bird migrations: beauty, awe and peril. A native of Columbus, Ohio, Tom has held an interest in all things natural, living or inanimate, ever since he can remember. Much of his free time growing up was spent in woods and afield camping, fishing, hunting mushrooms, watching and photographing wildlife, and exploring the natural world with his Dad and Grand-dad. Tom currently serves as trustee for Columbus Audubon, and is active in conservation and naturalist groups including The Nature Conservancy, the Wheaton Club and the Columbus Natural History Society. Tom and his wife, Donna, own and operate Wild Birds Unlimited on Riverside Drive in Columbus. Also an avid photographer, Tom still spends his free time much as he did at an early age, chasing the light and enjoying the wild side of life. April 28th: "Spring Warblers", Scott Albaugh, Parks, Recreation and Wildlife Program Coordinator and Instructor, Zane State College. Take an in-depth look into the world of returning and resident warblers. This program will cover the sounds and habits of these woodland jewels. Learn tips on identification by sight, sound, and behavior. Scott has been birding in Ohio for 22 years. He was a Regional Coordinator for the Ohio Breeding Birds Atlas 2, former Vice President of the Greater Mohican Audubon Society and has led several field trips for the Ohio Ornithological Society. Scott found the Common Raven in Jefferson County, Ohio in 2006 which later led to the discovery of the first nesting ravens in Ohio in over 100 years. He has a Master's degree in Herpetology from Marshall University, and is Program Coordinator of the Parks, Recreation, and Wildlife program at Zane State College in Zanesville, OH. ______________________________________________________________________ Ohio-birds mailing list, a service of the Ohio Ornithological Society.
