A few of us visited the north end of the lake at Buck Creek State Park in Clark County this morning. There remain lots of ducks and geese. To see some of the birds, you must walk south and around what is an island later when the water rises. If it is above freezing it will be a muddy walk. You can access this area from Grant Road which is on the east edge of the state park. The Tundra Swans and Greater White-fronted Geese were not seen. We did see 17 species of ducks including my first Wood Ducks of the season but there were no unusual species. We also saw at least 4 Cackling Geese with the hundreds of Canada Geese. There were two Red-necked Grebes near the ice to the south. The only gulls that we found were Ring-billed and Herring Gulls.
