I braved a v cold wind to make a brief trip to Logan Lake. I was treated to my FOS Barn Swallows in amongst 25-30 Tree Swallows.

I don't if it's unique for Logan Lk but I had 4 grebes from the "marina" area parking lot: Red-necked (at least 4 birds), Horned (6-8), Eared (1), and Pied-billed (1). The Eared was quite flashy, pretty much in full breeding plumage but the Red-neckeds & Horned are also transitioning with good color showing.

There were also at least 8 Common Loons all in stunning breeding plumage and I was delighted to hear them calling several times. Next to that of Sandhill Cranes, just about my favorite bird call.

A mature Bald Eagle made a flyby & perched briefly. Only other raptor was a Red-tailed along Rt 33 (besides Turkey & Black Vultures).

Bonaparte's & Ring-billed were at the lake also. 2 Blue Herons, 4 Gadwall, some distant mergs that I'm pretty sure were Common.

Not bad for a quick trip.
