At least one neotropical migrant, an adult Broad-winged Hawk, put in an appearance at Gahanna Woods preserve this morning. This wooded swamp often collects early migrants, and had some of the regular temperate migrants this morning as well, including Tree swallows, Blue-gray Gnatcatchers, Golden-cr.Kinglets, Hermit Thrush, Yellow-rumped warblers, Chipping & Field Sparrows, grackles, and cowbirds. The woods also held a territorial Cooper's Hawk, and the nearby Harmony Rd. Greenbelt had a calling Red-shouldered Hawk, so it was a decent morning for raptors.
