A walk at sunset at Pick Ponds was fruitful. The best was a single Sandhill Crane coming into roost for the night on the East side of Wood Duck Pond (on the far S side). It called a couple times after it landed out of sight. Wonderful. I suppose there could have been others but I only saw/heard the one. I was out looking/listening for Woodcocks & finally heard a couple, neither v close. A pheasant called as well. I added another warbler for the day when a Com Yellowthroat sang. Some Blue-winged & Green-winged Teal flew over. I thought I heard Com Nighthawks but could not spot them but I can't think of anything else w/that "beep" unless it was a frog of some sort. So just a maybe. There were also some good-sized bats around. I'm sure someone on the list knows which species--if so, reply offlist--thx. Gorgeous evening.
