I hit several Columbus migrant traps this morning, including Berliner Park, the Greenlawn Cemetery, WillowBranch Park, Jeffrey Park, and Wolfe Park. None of them had any major accumulation of migrants,--in fact migrants were scarce -- but most had plenty of singing residents. Cottonwood cotton was just starting to fall this morning, a good sign of the turn into summer-like conditions. Among the notable birds were: Yellow-cr.Night Heron - at least 1 adult persists at the Preston Rd site, but who knows for how long. Yellow-bellied Flycatchers - at least 2 were calling along the bikepath at Berliner early in the morning Other Empirds - calling Acadians and a Willow were at Berliner E.Kingbirds - calling birds were at Willow Branch, Greenlawn, and Wolfe Parks Vireos - plenty of Red-eyed at most spots, and Warbling were numerous at Berliner Thrushes - a few Swainson's remained at Berliner and the Cemetery Warblers - a Prothonotary was singing in the riparian forest along the bikepath at Berliner. The cemtery had nothing, but little Willow Branch Park a mile south had singing Magnolia & Redstart. Redstarts were also at Bleriner Jeffrey, and Wolfe. Mimids - Catbirds at many spots. A singing Thrasher was at the ravine in Greenlawn Cemetery ______________________________________________________________________ Ohio-birds mailing list, a service of the Ohio Ornithological Society.
