I'm again slowly but surely trying to get my website up to date with more recent photos and have recently been updating some of the vireo pages. When working on White-eyed Vireos I came across a bird I photographed last April at Scioto Trail State Forest with a marbled blue iris. The bird is in the top two photos on the page below :

I have been looking through all the literature I can get my hands on and can find no mention anywhere of a blue-eyed variation for White-eyed Vireos. Has anyone ever seen or heard of this? Although the angle of light in the two photos shown might suggest otherwise, both eyes are the same color on the bird. It was a male singing on territory last April 23 at Scioto Trail SF not far from the fire tower on the road to the N Ridge. It was just past the buildings and before the radio tower. It very well might still be there today.
