I was driving up Irish Ridge Rd(1/4 mile from Rte 278) & saw a Chuck-will's-widow along the side of the road. As I approached the bird flew away. In the distance I could hear another Chuck-will's-widow singing I visited Shelter Woods, Clear Cuts, Woods, Meadows, & Water areas. I had 19 Warblers & many young. A Shelter Woods is an area that was timbered & a few trees were left. They have a Mast crop. The Shelter Woods off of a Maintenance Rd(off of King Hollow Rd) is over 10 years old. The Understory is around 18 feet high. The Clear cut is over 18 feet high.Walking distance in this area is around 2 miles. The Shelter Woods & Clear Cuts on Baptist Church Rd(Car Birding) is over 5 years old. The Understory is over 6 feet high.
