I was reading up on owls in Bent (170:191), and came upon this report: "Mr. Forbush (1927) found the remains of long-eared owls in the stomachs of two barred owls, and in the stomach of one of the long-eared owls were the remains of a screech owl." This led me to look up a nice if obscure article, "Observations on Owls in Ohio" by local taxidermist Thomas Earl (who was lucky enough to know many of our elder local experts: J. M. Wheaton, Oliver Davie, Theodore Jasper, and Milton Trautman) from 1934, available at https://sora.unm.edu/sites/default/files/journals/wilson/v046n03/p0137-p0142.pdf . Wishing you enjoyment and edification, Bill Whan ______________________________________________________________________ Ohio-birds mailing list, a service of the Ohio Ornithological Society.
