I tried posting this earlier, but it never showed up. At 5:45, I had four black-bellied whistling ducks fly by at Metzger Marsh. I was walking the lakefront dike and they flew by over the marsh heading east. I watched them fly east until they were out of sight. It appeared they went into Ottawa National Wildlife Refuge. I also heard a report of two in Wayne Township in Ashtabula County tonight. Keep your eyes open. I also checked Huron for the Sabine's gull early this afternoon. I didn't see it or even a single Bonaparte's gull. There were a lot of larger gulls up the river. I had 9 lesser black-backed gulls. Six were on the gravel pile at the mouth of the river and the other three were upstream. All were second to third year birds. I also had a flyby Franklin's gull.
