A single Chipping Sparrow arrived at my feeding station with a flock of eight Juncos a little over two weeks ago. Nine Tree Sparrows finally showed up a few days later and all have been here daily. I didn't see the Chipping Sparrow yesterday and thought it left, but I really wasn't able to watch the feeders much. A few minutes ago it was eating seed on the ground with a Junco. Hopefully it will stay long enough to be counted for Christmas Bird Count. :) A stray cat showed up about a week ago and I haven't seen the Carolina Wren since. Hopefully that is just a coincidence. At least fourteen Goldfinches are devouring the thistle (most seen at one time). No Pine Siskins at the feeders, yet, but two flew over about three weeks ago while I was working outside so I am hopeful. The thistle feeder was not up yet so they had no reason to stay. A single male Purple Finch was here for about two hours last week. The House Finches kept driving it away from the feeder and I haven't seen it since. Still waiting for Fox Sparrows to visit here....
