I stopped by Simms Park in east Cleveland yesterday afternoon to see if any scoters were there. There were thousands and thousands of red-breasted mergansers just offshore flying and massing on the surface. Rather amazing concentration. In addition, I did find one female/immature surf scoter, one male pintail duck (that seemed surprising), a small group of 5 common goldeneye, and several horned grebes. I also stopped at Eastlake power plant where there were hundreds of bonaparte's gulls, and many cormorants, but not much else.
