Brian Menker called to inform me about a couple birds at Buck Creek State
Park and Old Reid Park this afternoon. Julie and I drove to the state park
to look over the lake. There was a group of about 12 blue morph and 25 white
morph Snow Geese in a very tight group seen from near the visitor's center
on the west side of the lake. There was also about 100 cormorants on the
lake. There were a few other ducks and several grebes.

Then we drove to Old Reid Park which is just across Croft Road to check the
ponds. We soon found the Gadwall x Green-winged Teal. We saw one last winter
at this location and I would assume it is the same bird. It looked the same.
The ducks seem a little shy as you might expect with duck season open.
There were about 100 Gadwalls on the ponds. This has been a good spot for
Gadwalls in the fall until the ponds freeze for quite a few years now. We
also saw a few Hooded Mergansers, a female Bufflehead, a shoveler, and lots
of Mallards.
