The astoundingly slow late fall/winter continues on the whole of the lakefront this year, with gull and waterfowl numbers down substantially. Rarities have been few and far between. Some of the best birding continues to be from Edgewater marina and Wendy Park, Burke Lakefront Airport and East 55th marina. Two POMARINE JAEGERS have been frequenting the Cleveland harbor off Wendy Park- an adult and an immature. A BLACK SCOTER was offshore Perkins (upper Edgewater parking lot) today. At least two if not 3-4 SNOWY OWLS have been frequenting Burke Lakefront Airport and the outer CLE harbor breakwall to East 55th marina. A flock of 60 COMMON REDPOLLS flew over Dike 14 yesterday. Bonaparte's Gulls are in very low numbers - most are congregating around Edgewater marina and Wendy Park. In part, a drastic lack of north winds keeps birding very slow along the entire Ohio lakefront. Very few Iceland and Glaucous Gulls have been located.
