It is a great day in my neighborhood (Whetstone Park area in Columbus)! We live at the end of the street, so the park is to our west. The bluebirds are house shopping and seeming to select a house last (and first) used 4 years ago. Hadn't seen bluebirds much since then with the house sparrows seeming to take over. I just cleaned out the birdhouse yesterday, having spotted the birds in the last couple days. The other thing happening is the juvenile red-tailed hawk visiting the feeding stations repeatedly in the last week and a half to get suet. We are worried that it has not mastered its hunting skills. It is not very large. Anyone with any thoughts on that? Finally, the robin coming to our back porch for raisins seems to not need them anymore. It got quite tame. I cut the raisins in half as I've heard that otherwise they are too large for the bird. You have to love spring. -- Karen H.
