Just got back from a late afternoon jaunt to Deer Creek State Park. In the area just south of the Marina (I call it the Route 207 inlet) there were lots of puddle ducks and a few Buffleheads. Among 2 dozen Am. Widgeon was one male Eurasian Widgeon. There were lots of Green-winged Teal, Northern Shovelers, Mallards, Gadwalls, Blue-winged Teal, Northern Pintails and a few Black Ducks. Saw my first Purple Martin of the year. There were also Herring Gulls, and Bonaparte's Gulls in all stages of changing plumage. Lots of Greater and Lesser Yellowlegs. An Osprey flew by. On Crownover Mill Road in a flooded field near the beach were Wilson Snipe and Blue-winged Teal.
