I watched two Ring-billed Gulls carrying nesting material to the rooftop of a local small strip plaza today. They were gathering the material from a construction site of sorts (lots of torn up ground and small piles of dirt with grassy clods sticking out of them), flying back and forth between that spot and the plaza roof. It looked like they were carrying gobs of long, muddy grass. I watched Herring Gulls do this at the Wolstein Center in Cleveland many years ago, but this is the first time I’ve observed this behavior in Trumbull County. Interesting…. I'll be keeping an eye on this spot. A few other notes: *Champion Twp:* Red-winged Blackbirds and Common Grackles have been visiting the feeder area in my yard over the past several days. Every day there are a few more of each. A Killdeer has been calling in the yard since Wednesday. I’m guessing it’s one of the adults that successfully nested in the garden last year. :) Turkey Vultures and a Bald Eagle were in the area as well today. Spring migration seems to be revving up! *Pennsylvania: *This morning while I was traveling, a single Sandhill Crane flew over I-80 a mile or so east of the Sharon exit. While this is not an Ohio sighting, it’s still close enough to the border to be of interest to local birders.
