I went out in my yard early this morning to listen for Woodcocks. I found a couple making a series of different sounds (defensive cackle as it is described in Audubon on line and the tuk tuk tuk notes). They are in the shrubby border between two fields…..almost to a dime in exactly the same spot that they occupy every year. So, if you are at nearby Frohring Meadows, expect to see them displaying in the evenings.
