Around 1:30, I saw 7 smaller gulls, one with a solid black head, a couple others that look like they're getting there and a few females or non-breeders, at New Russia Township Nature Preserve. I'm pretty sure they're not Bonaparte's gulls, but I didn't get a good enough look to tell if they're Laughing, Franklin's or another species. The bills looked solid black to me - not the reddish or partly reddish like I've seen in guides. If anyone else has seen these birds, or swings by there and happens to see and identify them, I would love to hear from you. Also saw two Pied-billed Grebes, my first Eastern Meadowlark of the year, a hovering Kestrel and a hawk, most likely a Red-tailed, but I'd barely spotted it before it dropped down to the ground as I was driving away. Happy Birding! Kristen ______________________________________________________________________ Ohio-birds mailing list, a service of the Ohio Ornithological Society.
