Lake Hope State Park & Zaleski State Forest are located 15 miles from Nelsonville(Rte 33) off of Rte 278. Below is a list of some of the Birds seen yesterday (April 20th) On Baptist Church Rd & Wheelabout Rd there are Clear Cuts & Shelter Woods. Below is a list of Birds that can be seen in these areas. I arrived before 7:00 am & the Wood Thrush song was filling the woods!!! Warblers Hooded Yellow-breasted Chat Prairie Blue-winged Black-and-white Chestnut-sided C Yellowthroat American Redstart Yellow-throated Other Birds seen in these areas Red-headed Woodpecker N Flicker Red-tailed Hawk Turkeys Blue-gray Gnatcatcher Vireos White-eyed Yellow-throated E Bluebird Ruby-throated Hummingbird Woodland Birds Hawks Red-shouldered Cooper's White-throated Sparrows Red-eyed Vireo Brown Thrasher Kinglets Ruby-crowned Golden-crowned E Towhee Wood Thrush Turkeys Warblers Cerulean Worm-eating Ovenbird Yellow-rumped Palm Pine Groves Warblers Pine Black-throated Green Creek areas Warblers Louisiana Waterthrush N Parula Small Marsh-Rte 278 Osprey-male Marsh Birds Swamp Sparrow Mallards Wood Duck Hope Furnace parking lot N Rough-winged Swallow Swamp Sparrow Pileated Woodpecker-female Warblers N Parula Yellow-throated Yellow C Yellowthroat Black-and-white American Redstart Louisiana Waterthrush Hope Schoolhouse Barn Swallows Warblers C Yellowthroat Blue-winged Yellow-throated Looking down into a raven, the woods were green intermixed with Redbud, Dogwood & Apple blooming I finished my day at a favorite Shelter Woods/Clear. Suddenly I had a Blue-winged & Black-and-white Warbler singing while foraging. Also 3 Prairie Warblers were singing around me. Then a Prairie Warbler flew in & perched 2 feet from me at eye level. What a way to finish a beautiful Birding day!!!
