Well, last evening about 9:00 I tried to post the following message to the listserv. I did not realize until a few minutes ago that it did not go through for some reason. Here is my second attempt. Where have all the Least Bitterns gone this year (not there are ever very many)???? I sure do not know. But, today we were very fortunate to see one fly at Big Island. Great thanks go to Ron Sempier who frequently birds Big Island and heard two there today. To find the area, go to the THIRD impoundment west of Espyville Rd. on LaRue Prospect Road. The pull-off is on the north side of the road. Park and walk due north. There is marsh only the right side. You will come to a duck blind that is only for handicapped hunters. Just north of this blind there is an opening that allows you to look across the water to cattails. We saw the bird flying north to south and back again over the cattails. We did not hear it call. Bug spray is essential!!!!!! Doreene Linzell Dan Sanders ______________________________________________________________________ Ohio-birds mailing list, a service of the Ohio Ornithological Society.
