Lake Hope State Park & Zaleski State Forest are located 15 miles from Nelsonville (Rte 33) off of Rte3 278. I spent 2 mornings at these with a California Birder-Calvin Walters. We viewed many Warblers & Songbirds & many young. Below is some of our observations. For more detail about Zaleski State Forest, go to eBird Hotspots Observations Whip-poor-wills-3 singing & circling their territories at 5:05 am E Towhee-young males & females Indigo Buntings-many young foraging with Adults Magnolia Warbler-young female Kentucky Warbler-young White-eyed Vireo-young Blue-winged Warbler-pair foraging together Black-and-white Warbler-young female Brown Thrasher-young Blue-gray Gnatcatcher-Adult & young foraging American Robin-young Scarlet Tanager-young Louisiana Waterthrush-young Chestnut-sided Warbler-young Prairie Warbler-young following Adult Red-headed Woodpecker- Adult feeding young Baltimore Oriole-young male Black-and-white Warbler -young male singing Red-eyed Vireo-wing fluttering We also visited Clear Creek Metro Park Hemlock Trail Veery-singing Black-throated Green-singing Yellow-throated Vireo-singing Blue-headed Vireo-2 together foraging & interacting Ovenbird-Suddenly an Adult became very excited. The orange feathers on its head stood up! Then on the ground I see a young going left. The one Adult is perched about 2 feet off the ground-very excited. The other adult was on the ground, with its wings hanging down. It kept going in the opposite direction the young went.
