Just returned from Wilderness Rd birding from 9-10:30am. There were 8-10 birders out at the peat pits checking out the shorebirds. The buff-breasted sandpiper was further down towards the largest pond there in excellent light. I was just west of the pond in the wet dirt. There was also one Am. golden plover in that area. Two Baird's sandpipers were in the ditch on the east side of the road along with some least sandpipers. They were only 30-40ft away, also in excellent light. Great views of those at close range! There were 7 other species for a total of 10 species of shorebirds. Unfortunately this area is drying up quite a lot and the total shorebird numbers are fairly low now. We need some rain!
