Greetings! MAN did I see a most awesome site last night at Big Island...TENS of thousands of what I thought at first were starlings, were Grackles and thousands of Blackbirds coming in to roost with a rainbow as a backdrop...SPECTACULAR. I still don't know how to count them. :-D ***Soapbox speach*** Regarding the issue with the Kayaking birder/photographer...I suggest that if you have an issue with the ethics of a certain person, that you do not splash his/her face all over Facebook, but deal with it privately, with kind words. Think about what you say, and keep your emotions in check. You can do it face to face, or privately in an email/private message. But you are not going to do anything constructive by "outing" them. In essence, treat them with the same respect, they should be treating the birds... Remember that there are people that do not belong to the ABA, and as such do not follow the same code of ethics...I do not belong to the ABA (for personal reasons) but I try to follow their guidelines. HOWEVER, if the person is not doing anything illegal (Just because it is unethical, doesn't make it illegal...), then there is very little that can be done. All that plastering their face on Facebook will do is drive them farther away instead of educating them. ***End soapbox speech*** Happy birding, and God bless.
