September 4, between 6:30 and 7:00 PM, in Fairlawn, Summit County 44333, I observed the largest group of nighthawks yet this year: 3.
On three occasions while walking through the neighborhood west of Fort Island Park, I saw 3 nighthawks circling together. It is remotely possible that they were 6 or even 9 individuals, but more probable that the same group ranged more widely and came into view in another place later. For a moment I thought I had spotted a fourth, but it flew too directly, and soon it became clear it was a larger bird - a ring-billed gull.
