It should be an impressive evening listening to these two young men present to our club members and guests. Kyle Davis - "Research on the Big Walnut Bluebird Trail". Kyle currently maintains and observes 125 nestboxes in the Sunbury area that support three research projects. The Magic Halo Project was created to fend off House Sparrows; the Tree Swallow Project looked at microbiota in the nesting stages, and also feather degradation and abrasion comparison. He plans to continue with these projects and start some new ones as well and will present on the Magic Halo Project and feather microbiota in Tree Swallow nests. Kyle is a freshman attending Ohio Wesleyan University. He is majoring in pre-professional zoology. He has been working with birds since the 5th grade. He has participated and competed in many conferences all over the United States, ranging from local, district and state science fair and nationally at the annual Wilson Ornithology meeting. He has had the pleasure of working with world renowned professors helping them with their projects just as they have done with him. Stephen Bischoff - "If You Build It, They Will Come". Stephen Bischoff is currently monitoring three nestbox trails: 11 boxes at the Online Computer Library Center in Dublin; 14 boxes at Sawmill Wetlands off of Sawmill Road; and, 16 boxes at Kiwanis Riverway Park in Dublin. Over the last three years he has studied the growth and feeding habits of the birds, documenting weight, feather development and visitation rates. His talk will cover the use of game cameras to capture visitation rates of Tree Swallows and Eastern Bluebirds. Stephen is a senior at Dublin Scioto High School and plans to attend The Ohio State University next fall, majoring in Environmental Sciences. He is an active member of the Ohio Young Birders Club and has volunteered over 800 hours at the Ohio Wildlife Center over the past 3 years. ______________________________________________________________________ Ohio-birds mailing list, a service of the Ohio Ornithological Society.
