Hello All, This has been a great fall for nocturnal flying insects on which nighthawks feed -- overnight low temperatures in Columbus have been in the 50s which is close to the average daily high. Usually by now we've had at least one bug-killing freeze as well. The nighthawks we are seeing are both late and lucky. October birds are uncommon, but there are local records for well into November on very rare occasions.
