The Western Tanager is still present as of 12:50pm today. The home owners are very friendly and accommodating—thanks much for their hospitality! Of course to all birders who visit, please reciprocate this kindness.

To note, the tanager has also caught the eye of a Cooper's Hawk, who chased it off quickly after it showed itself in the brush near the feeders. As a Cooper's Hawk has to eat too, I do hope it can find a tasty House Sparrow instead.

I'll post a couple pictures on eBird fairly soon.

Subject: [Ohio-birds] WESTERN TANAGER - Montgomery County!!

Carolyn Sayre Garber has a WESTERN TANAGER coming to her feeders in Montgomery County!! She first spotted the bird briefly yesterday (Saturday) and was unsure of what it was until today when she was able to take photos which can be seen on Facebook. It's occurrence pattern is unknown at this point but with crappy weather it seems like it will be more frequent. The home owner is welcoming visitors and is preferring people to call her at this number to check on the current status of the bird. Thanks! 937-657-4047
