I am a life-long amateur birder. I love watching birds and I watch birds and look for new life species wherever I go. I value very highly the Ohio Birds List Serv because for me it serves well what I assume is the main purpose for which it was created: It lets people know what species are being seen in specific localities and throughout the state at any given time. For me that is very helpful. Sometimes I will go looking for a particular species that has been reported at a particular site. More often, I will look for the same species in suitable habitats in my own neck of the woods. So I appreciate posts that list most of the birds that were observed, not just those that may be rare or uncommon.

I also appreciate and value observations of unusual bird behavior, and don't think they are out of place on this List.

Finally, IMHO "brevity is the soul of wit." I don't need or want to see personal information or hear other extraneous details. Just keep posting what birds you saw and where you saw them, and I will be grateful for your contribution.

Thanks--

Marc Schroeder
