We had a good day birding at Gallagher Fen Nature Preserve this morning. This preserve is on Old Columbus Road near Buck Creek State Park. We found 14 species of warblers there including about 4 Blue-winged Warblers which are not nesting birds here. We also heard a couple Ovenbirds and had lots of Yellow-rumped Warblers. We also had 5 species of vireos. Then at Buck Creek State Park on the beach we had 2 Caspian Terns and 2 Common Terns. Then we found a female Blue Grosbeak near the bathhouse. We moved to the Prairie View parking lot and walked to the Crabill House. We added two more warblers, Yellow-throated Warblers and a chat for 16 species overall. Then a Sandhill Crane flew over us while calling which seems really late for one here. We ended up with 89 species by 12:30 PM.
