In just 4 1/2 hours yesterday, we saw 20 species of warblers (including a canada and several northern parulas), 3 species of vireos, a whippoorwill, a nighthawk, a woodcock, a scarlet tanager, and many more. There were a lot of birds. We saw at least two or three birds for most of the warbler species we saw and maybe a dozen or so birds for several species. In one spot not far from the "bird sit," we saw 7 different species of warblers in the time that it took us to eat our sandwiches. The birds should be in the area at least through Monday. > Date: Sat, 14 May 2016 17:18:47 -0400 > From: [log in to unmask] > Subject: [Ohio-birds] Magee area birding wrapup. > To: [log in to unmask] > > Greetings! > > Well, after nearly clearing the boardwalk on Thursday, I tried to lay low > the past couple of days on the boardwalk. :-D > > Species count Saturday was 81 Tom got 92 today, so for those playing at > home, Tom got an extra $12 from me.:-D > > Total count for Maggie was 101 species.
