Sandy Ridge Reservation in Lorain County is slamming with shorebirds right now. Not a huge diversity of species yet but numbers have been picking up in the last week and they are everywhere. They have great mudflats currently and today I saw tons of Least Sandpiper, the most Spotted Sandpipers I have ever seen there, tons of Killdeer, Lesser Yellowlegs, one Greater Yellowlegs and one Solitary Sandpiper. I think this place will be a gold mine for good shorebirds this fall migration. I have a good feeling some good rarities will show up this year. Bins work but having a scope is vital to get eyes on the birds far out in the marsh. Happy shorebirding.
