The ABA has distilled the new AOU Checklist into a simple format. Most
of the additions are splits; one exotic passes muster, and another is
removed (budgerigar, once EZ2C, seems to be winking out, largely because
of another introduced species, the starling). There is more tuning of
scientific nomenclature. The ABA has several formats of the list at
http://listing.aba.org/aba-checklist/ to choose from. I was hoping that
the hoary redpoll would finally be banished, but more scrutiny
continues--last I heard the genetics of the redpolls are identical--so,
the records committee folks will have to
flip coins for another winter...Gloger rules!
