The Common Nighthawk reports are really pouring in to the Listserv. Thank you all for sharing. Just a reminder that it would be valuable if you did an eBird checklist for these sightings, even if it is just "incidental". The more we document the better analysis our Ornithologists can do of the species over time. If you would like to use eBird but don't know where to start, send me an email and I will help you get going! Around 6:45pm on Friday evening, my kids and I were playing in our small backyard pool and glanced up to see about 15-20 Nighthawks flying Southeast. There could have been more, that was just the count when we noticed them and started counting. Location was Shawnee, Ohio, Perry County. Pretty cool, even if it does mean the end of our beloved summer.
