Birded Willow Point from noon to 2pm today. It was sunny and VERY HOT there, though the shorebirds did not seem to mind. Watched shorebirds at both the Willow Point Road ponds and the Fish Work Unit ponds. By far the greater numbers and species were at the latter location. Shorebirds observed: Am. golden plover 4 Killdeer 30+ Semipalmated plover 15+ Greater yellowlegs 2 Lesser yellowlegs 15 Solitary sandpiper 1 Red knot 3 Sanderling 1 Semipalmated sandpiper 3 Western sandpiper 1 Least sandpiper 30+ Pectoral sandpiper 30+ Stilt sandpiper 30+ Short-billed dowitcher 25 Wilson's phalarope 4 Also stopped at Medusa Marsh, which was fairly well flooded. It only held killdeer and lesser yellowlegs.
