I got out for about a half hour during one of the few periods between rainstorms yesterday and hiked the Coyote Trail at Highbanks MetroPark, north of Columbus. There were small flocks of birds in many places, undoubtedly grounded by the storm, but the dark, drizzly weather made viewing tricky. Included in the mix were
-quite a few House Wrens (4-5) and 1 very late Blue-gray Gnatcatcher
-6 species of warbler, with Hooded being the only unexpected species, though 7 Redstarts was nice
-quite a few Swainson's Thrushes and Catbirds
-several small groups of Field Sparrows, but few other sparrows
-one cluster of 4 Indigo Buntings
