I checked these two migrant traps along the Scioto River south of downtown Columbus, but found migration in a lull compared to the 2 prior days. Notables included: Flycatchers - many Wood Pewees, but little else other than an Acadian (B) and Phoebe (SG) Vireos - small #s of Red-eyed at both parks, along with 5 Warbling at Berliner Swallows - only a few Barns & Rough-wings at both parks Thrushes - a few Swainsons were at both parks, and Berliner had a calling Wood Thrush Waxwings - small flocks of Cedars at both parks Warblers - very few, with nothing at Berliner, and 2-3 Magnolias and 2 Redstarts at SG Scioto Grove also had 2 Blackburnians, 1 Cape May, and 2 ComYellowthroats Insects were almost more of an attraction at Scioto Grove, with the river covered with water striders to such an extent that it glistened from their movements. There were also lots of Hackberry Emperor Butterflies in the riparian forest there. ______________________________________________________________________ Ohio-birds mailing list, a service of the Ohio Ornithological Society.
