At LaDue Reservoir this afternoon, I saw the first four common loons of the season. The rain didn’t hinder the bonapartes gulls, over 100, dancing from one end of the reservoir to the other. Also, two common terns and one foresters. With the exception of a flyover flock of yellowlegs, (14) I didn’t find any shorebirds today except killdeer. Two sandhill cranes flew low overhead, and 5 immature eagles gathered on the sandbar, having little disagreements about some food they didn’t want to share.
