A Nelsons’s Sparrow was seen at around 10:30 this morning at the Great Miami Mitigation Bank in Dayton.

The bird had a buffy-orange face with a gray cheek, plain gray nape, fine streaking on the flanks and a buffy breast. It perched in the open for about 30 seconds along with a few Swamp Sparrows.

Lincoln’s Sparrows were also seen as was the Marsh Wren that has been present for a while.

The Nelson’s was in the wet area in the north west corner of the non-golf course part of the mitigation bank.
