The BSBO Lake Erie Pelagic was held today. 49 hopeful birders braved the wet, windy weather aboard The Holiday. Given the brisk conditions causing significant wave action on the open water, we stayed behind the break wall all day. Overall numbers were a little low but Purple Sandpiper was a life time bird for some. Also seen were Ring-billed and Herring Gulls by the hundreds. Approximately 10 Great Black-backed Gulls and Boneparte's Gulls by the tens. A couple of Common Loons and Horned Grebes. We were also treated to a couple of Bald Eagles and Peregrine Falcons with a brief interaction between the two species.
