Blacklick Woods was hopping this cold morning, with lots of flock birds, particularly near the several feeder stations. I also stopped at 2 nearby parks - Blacklick Ridge and Reynoldsburg Civic - and found similar concentrations, so the cold has really perked things up. Highlights included: Red-headed Woodpeckers - at least 4 were scattered around Blacklick Woods Sapsucker - 1 was calling from the Ash Grove picnic area at Blacklick Woods Pileated Woodpecker - a single was along the Maple Loop at Blacklick Woods Red-br.Nuthatch - 1 was coming to one of the trail feeder stations at Blacklick Woods American Pipit - 1 was in one of the soccer fields at Reynoldsburg Civic Park Yellow-rumped Warblers - at least 4 were in different areas of Blacklick Woods Fox Sparrow - a beautiful Eastern Fox Sparrow was at the Nature Center feeders at Blacklick Woods White-throated Sparrows - flocks at many locations in all 3 parks Eastern Towhee - 5 birds were at different feeders at Blacklick Woods ______________________________________________________________________ Ohio-birds mailing list, a service of the Ohio Ornithological Society.
