A quick run through these 2 neighboring spots in Westerville this afternoon found some interesting birds. The cold snap seems to have pushed in some stuff, including Common Goldeneye - one female was in the reservoir above the dam, my FOS around Columbus Hooded Mergansers - none at the dam, but 2 were at the pond along the Chipmunk Chatter Trail at Inniswood Gulls - the area around the dam had small flocks of Ring-bills (50+) and Bonaparte's (25) Woodpeckers - 5-6 Red-headed are still along the forest loop trail at Inniswood, and the spillway below Hoover dam had lots of other woodpeckers, including a Pileated Red-br.Nuthatch - 1 of these little beauties is frequenting the feeders at the Innis house at Inniswood Cedar Waxwings - still was able find 3-4 of them around the berry bushes at Inniswood Swamp Sparrow - singles were at the Hoover Dam Spillway and nearby Boyer Preserve White-throated Sparrows - small flocks were everywhere, possibly pushed into the area by the cold snap. ______________________________________________________________________ Ohio-birds mailing list, a service of the Ohio Ornithological Society.
