A Northern Shrike has been seen for a few days now at Herrick Fen Nature Preserve. I got there this morning driving on pretty bad roads, and I passed the unmarked entrance 5 times before I finally found it. But it was worth it, as the Shrike greeted me at the trailhead. If you're not familiar with how to get there, the hard part is finding the entrance. If you are going north on Seasons Rd and you get to the railroad tracks, you've gone too far north. The entrance is just south of there, on the east side of the road. You will see a lot of wood dumped in piles, behind the railroad tracks. That is where you want to turn in, drive over the railroad tracks. Then turn right at the wood pile, then left, and drive down a narrow path. The entrance to the park will be on the right. ______________________________________________________________________ Ohio-birds mailing list, a service of the Ohio Ornithological Society.
